Tsubaki America Shrine is the branch of Tsubaki Grand Shrine, the 1st shrine of the Ise region and the Main Shrine of SARUTAHIKO-NO-O-KAMI, the primal earthly Kami of positiveness, guidance, protection and justice and his wife AME-NO-UZUME-NO-MIKOTO, Kami of arts and entertainment, meditation, marriage and joy. Also enshrined at Tsubaki America are AMATERASU-OMIKAMI, Kami of the sun, UGA-MITAMA-NO-O-KAMI, Kami of food and things to sustain life, AMERICA-KOKUDOKUNIMITAMA-NO-O-KAMI, protector of North American continent and AMENOMURAKUMOKUKISAMUHARA, the Kami of Aiki-do

Tsubaki America Shrine was established in 1986 in Stockton, CA by Rev. Dr. Yukitaka Yamamoto the 96th High Priest of Tsubaki Grand Shrine in Mie, Japan. Tsubaki America was the 1st Shrine to be built on North American soil. A series of Priests from Tsubaki Grand Shrine in Japan served at Tsubaki America, introducing the Jinja Shinto to the US.

In 1992 Kannagara Jinja was built by Rev. Lawrence Koichi Barrish to enshrine Tsubaki O-Kami. In 2001 17 acres of land adjacent to Kannagara Jinja was donated to Tsubaki America by the Matsuri Foundation and the decision was made to combine Tsubaki America and Tsubaki Kannagara Jinja.

In 2023, the operations of Tsubaki America were transferred to Shin Mei Spiritual Centre near Victoria, BC in Canada. Here, visitors can experience deep spiritual connection with Great Nature amidst 30 acres of sacred forest and shrine buildings. Please visit www.matsuri.cafor more information.
